The following blog posts should not be missed: that munanga linguist’s ‘Whitewashed: The Northern Territory Library’s disturbing commemoration of the life of Paul Foelsche’ (published 18 February 2014) and The Wheeler Centre’s ‘Lest We Remember: the Australian War Memorial and the Frontier Wars’, by Michael Green (published 24 February 2014).
Ignoring our true history will not make it go away. It is important that history is revisited, that ‘uncomfortable’ and previously hidden truths are acknowledged and that voices that were silenced are given a forum to be heard. This is the only way for Australia to move forward in reconciliation and as a nation.
